Chan Zuckerberg Pours $50 Million Into Biohub as it Taps its First Round of Investigators

The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub has chosen 47 engineers and scientists to fund in its effort to fight all human diseases. This is the first group tapped by the Biohub to "turbo-charge" science and they're backed with a $50 million investment.

The Biohub, housed at UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, first launched in 2016 as part of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan’s $3 billion philanthropic venture. The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative would spend the next 10 years funding basic science and technology to cure and manage all diseases, starting with its first investment of $600 million in the Biohub to encourage collaboration at three leading research universities.
